My Favorite Winter Activities in Colorado
Every Christmas, I spend at least a week in one of my favorite places in the world – our cabin up in the mountains of Colorado near Winter Park. I love it up there. I drink hot chocolate and read books by the fire, sleep 9+ hours a night, hang out with my family, and eat all the holiday foods.
Fun Winter Activities That Burn Calories
I spend my fair share of time resting and relaxing, but by day 3 I can get a little stir crazy and, with no gym or ClassPass studios in sight, I get to enjoy one of the endless winter activities that keep me moving and sane. And if I get really desperate, I can always go to Devil’s Thumb Ranch and take one of their amazing yoga classes.

Snow shoeing – You think walking or running on sand is hard? Try snowshoeing through 2 feet of powder while it’s -6 degrees outside. Snowshoeing will always be one of my favorite winter activities because my husband proposed to be while on a snowshoe after Christmas a few years ago. I have never been so surprised in my life and he miraculously didn’t drop the ring in the snow!

Skiing – Despite the fact that gravity does most of the work for you, skiing is surprisingly hard, especially when you factor in all the heavy gear you have to schlep from your car to the lift and back again.

Ski jouring – if you want an activity that exhausts your dog as well as yourself, this is the activity for you. Strop a harness on your dog, some cross country skis to your feet and let them pull you as fast as they can.
